Valentine’s Day Ideas for You and The Ones You Love

By Alisa Murray –

We all know that Valentine’s Day will be a challenge as so many of us are practicing social distancing and staying at home; however, that does not mean it will be any less romantic or memorable. Here are some ideas for what you can do to make sure this holiday all about love will be memorable for every member of your family – including you!

For your Significant Other:

  • Purchase some matching pajamas and order in some sushi and sake.
  • Watch a comedy club show or a concert virtually.
  • Put the kids to bed early, and run a tub for two with candles all around the
  • bathroom and a bottle of bubbly with chocolate-dipped strawberries.
  • Make a homemade body scrub and butter and give each other a massage.
  • Make crepes filled with chocolate and ricotta topped with powdered sugar
  • and fresh fruit and have breakfast in bed with mimosas.
  • Write each other a love letter.

For the Children:

  • Make Valentine’s cookies and decorate with hearts and sprinkles.
  • Pack a picnic basket filled with homemade tea sandwiches and lemonade and head to the beach for an afternoon in the sun. Take some favorite books and a blanket and read to them by the sea.
  • Make homemade Valentine’s cards and send to every family member and friend. On the back, write a personalized message about why they chose the recipient for a love note.
  • Set up a chocolate bar with flavored popcorn and rent a movie.
  • Make a blanket fort in the middle of the house and turn on the bubble machine, some loud music and dance!

For You and Others:

  • Create a personalized box of goodies filled with things that you need, like new mascara and razors, and add to it chocolates, a special candle or a new bottle of perfume. This is also a great Valentine’s gift for teens and college kiddos.
  • Gift yourself or someone else a flower arrangement every month for a year.
  • Make a throw blanket with pictures of the grandchildren for grandma and grandpa.

With some creativity and time, every holiday can be turned into something special. Just take a deep breath and roll up your sleeves — you got this!
