Silver Award Earned by Two Girl Scouts from Troop 157004 in Sugar Land

Fort Settlement Middle School 7th graders, Allison Sobrinho and Anna Gratz from Troop 157004 received their Girl Scout Silver Award for their Meals for those in need initiative. The girls partnered with Second Mile Mission and held a very successful food drive and received over 1000 items in donations. So many families are having a hard time accessing food for themselves and their families especially during these COVID times. The girls were glad that they have made their friends and neighbors aware about the problem of food access for so many in our community.

Sobrinho and Gratz also created a recipe booklet with minimal ingredients for quick preparation and healthy eating. A pdf version  was uploaded to the website for Second Mile Mission, so the families could easily view them any time that is convenient to them. They also printed out 150 copies of the recipe booklets and 1200 handouts that included the website information where they could access an online version of our booklet. They handed out their recipe booklets and handouts at Second Mile Mission to families as they drove up to pick up their food boxes.
