Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Recognizes Breast Cancer Survivors Sixth Annual Pink in the Park Event Draws in $6,800 for Breast Cancer Services

Families were decked out in pink attire at the sixth annual Pink in the Park on Friday, May 18th at Constellation Field in Sugar Land. The annual event presented by the Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital and the Sugar Land Skeeters is an opportunity to recognize breast cancer survivors living in the Sugar Land community.

“Our annual Pink in the Park event was a highlight moment for Memorial Hermann Sugar Land as we recognized the women in the community we serve,” said Greg Haralson, Sr. Vice President and CEO, Memorial Hermann Sugar Land. “Thank you to all of the families for helping us raise money that will be used to advance services available for breast cancer patients.”

As the Skeeters took on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, breast cancer survivors were recognized on the field during the seventh inning stretch. Throughout the game, the more than 5,750 attendees had the opportunity to place bids on baseball bats painted by Skeeters players. The silent auction generated $6,800 in donations.

Proceeds from Pink in the Park will be used to enhance the breast cancer services offered through Memorial Hermann Sugar Land, including digital mammography for screening and diagnostics and the cutting edge 3-D breast tomosynthesis. This digital technology can detect smaller breast tumors that may be missed by traditional mammography. The technology is particularly beneficial for women with dense or fatty breast tissue.
