Literacy Council of Fort Bend County Expands Outreach Partners and Scholarship Opportunities

The Literacy Council of Fort Bend County (LCFBC) has extended programs and services over the last year with Outreach partners providing more access to the community.  Through the pandemic, the Outreach partners that have been able to continue LCFBC programs are Fort Bend Hope, Friends of North Richmond, Second Mile Mission and Grand Parkway Baptist Church.

In addition to the Outreach efforts, the Jan Schiff Scholarship is open to all former LCFBC students who completed their GED with the agency.  The Jan Schiff Scholarship was named by the LCFBC Board of Directors to honor the legacy of Jan Schiff and her lifelong missions of education and literacy.  The scholarship supports a LCFBC adult student to further their education beyond their work of achieving their GED at the Literacy Council.  For more information on the scholarship opportunity or to join the GED program, please call 281-240-8181.

At LCFBC volunteers are change makers, and the council wants the community to be a part of their mission.  Become an ESL or basic literacy tutor by joining an upcoming tutor training session.  For more information, contact 281-240-8181 or read@ftbendliteracy.org.
