July 2019 – Exclamation Points!

American Milestones –

Kolton and Patti Kaminski staycationing in Galveston.

Fifty years ago this month, American history was made.  Apollo 11 landed on the moon, and Neil Armstrong said, “This is one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.”

I’m not certain if NASA always intended Apollo 11 to land on the moon during the most historic month in American history, but it certainly worked out well.  On July 4, 1776, the United States of America declared independence from Britain, and we celebrate that milestone each year.  More importantly, we celebrate the price of our freedom – our freedom to govern for the people, by the people, and our freedom of exploration.  This freedom we revere came at a cost, and each July 4th, my thoughts go to the brave men and women who have served our country providing for our freedom.  Happy July 4th to our service men and women and our public servants.  We celebrate July 4th because of you.

In addition to our historic milestones, there’s much to celebrate here at absolutely! focus media (afm) this month.  First, we welcome Diane Strehl as our new general manager.  Read all about Diane on page 13.  We are thrilled to have her as part of our afm family.

Next, we are celebrating staycationing – the art of vacationing close to home.  Alisa Murray gives us some great ideas to spend time with family and have amazing experiences in the greater Houston area.  Our family recently staycationed in Galveston, and the quality time we were able to spend together laughing, exploring and of course, eating, was indeed a milestone celebration.

Finally, I’d like to announce our official “save the date” for our Fort Bend Focus 15th Birthday Bash.  Fifteen years covering the people, places and happenings in our community will be celebrated on December 4, 2019 with an amazing event.  I hope that you will join us for this milestone in our history.  Go to fortbendfocus.com and opt in to our mailing list to receive an official invitation and upcoming details.

Neil Armstrong also said, “Shoot for the stars, but if you happen to miss, shoot for the moon instead.”  Here’s to shooting for the stars and celebrating our historic milestones together.  Happy 4th of July Fort Bend!

Stay focused!
