Get Geared Up for Take-Off!

For most of us, this has been a crazy time. The technology that we have could not be of more value than right now. With all of the extra time we have, it’s a great time to explore all sorts of places that you may never have had the chance to, so that in your education, you’ll be better equipped to know just exactly where you want to go when things change. Additionally, there are many places that you can learn a new skill, which is also an important part of planning an experience vacation. So, plate up a cheese board, grab your laptop and get going!

Learning new skills is often a large part of experiences desired when on a vacation. Cooking classes and wine tastings and pairings or taking up a new sport is often on the wish list to try. Can you imagine learning how to make a new dish, or even how to make pasta could enhance your experiences and conversations with others when we can go back out into the world again?

YouTube is a wonderful source for finding out how to do just about anything. Gardening is a very popular subject, and in Fort Bend, we have such good weather we can plant and harvest year-round. For the adventurous, I would recommend selecting sports that you’d like to try, like snorkeling or skiing, and delving deep into the videos there. If you are wanting to learn a new skill, I just love Masterclass.  I have been a member for years, and there are many talented people who have created classes on cooking, writing, painting and so much more. Lastly, if the study of the humanities or psychology is your thing, you’ll find plenty to learn for free at Hillsdale College, edx.org and MIT open courseware.

We are all staycationing right now, but that does not mean we cannot explore our beautiful world, the arts or learn something new. When the time comes to pack those bags again, you’ll be ready to marvel at the places you’ve discovered with expertise and a new skillset for connecting to and contributing to our world!
