Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels and OCuSOFT Create Memories for Homebound Seniors

On Wednesday, November 8th, Fort Bend Seniors (FBS) Meals on Wheels kicked off the holiday season with their annual Secret Santa to Seniors celebration hosted by OCuSOFT.

A cherished holiday tradition of FBS, the Secret Santa to Seniors program creates special memories for homebound seniors in Fort Bend and Waller counties who receive Meals on Wheels. Volunteers “adopt” seniors and provide them with much-needed gifts for the holiday season. Seniors’ “Wish Lists” are displayed as ornaments on Christmas trees, which are then fulfilled by both individuals and organizations from around the area. Around 800 seniors will receive presents this year because of the community’s generosity.

OCuSOFT CEO Cynthia Barrett welcomed almost 60 guests to the event and shared how the company has come to partner with FBS over the years on this important service to seniors. Manuela Arroyos, FBS CEO, and Ray Aguilar, FBS Board Chairman, also shared their thoughts on the program before inviting guests to take an ornament. More than 300 seniors were adopted at the event.

Those interested in adopting seniors can pick up ornaments from FBS administrative office before December 1st, 2017. All gifts wrapped with the ornaments attached should be delivered back to FBS administrative office by December 9th.
