Don’t get caught barking up the wrong tree! Join Top Dog sponsor Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital and Leader of the Pack sponsors Sunoco Logistics and Travis’ Red Bandana Brigade, plus Spokesdogs Annie and Lilly, for Fort Bend Cares’ 4th Annual Doggone Fun Run on Saturday, April 22nd at 8 am in the Village of Sawmill Lake in Sienna Plantation.

Spokesdogs Annie and Lilly aren’t just cute, they are specially trained therapy dogs that have provided over 300 hours of emotional support and smiles to patients at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.  Owners of these adorable and hardworking Shih Tzus are Mike and Linda Ruggeroli of Richmond.  Retirement prompted the Ruggerolis to welcome Lilly into their home and to investigate the steps required to train therapy dogs. Lilly, now five, has served as a pet therapy dog since she was four months old. Annie, now three, joined the family and also passed therapy training with flying colors.

Fort Bend Cares’ Doggone Fun Run raises funds to support non-profit organizations that serve to improve the lives of disadvantaged children in Fort Bend County. The Doggone Fun Run includes a competitive chip timed 5K run without dogs and a 5K run and a one-mile fun run/walk with or without dogs, so there is something for every person and pup! There will be medals for age group winners of the competitive 5K run, along with prizes for winners of the canine costume competition.

Come early to peruse vendor booths and listen to live music and stay late to enjoy more canine friendly activities at Sienna Plantations’ Canine Carnival. Event swag includes a T-shirt and dog bandana while supplies last. Dog owners must ensure canine participants have a current rabies vaccine and are on a non-retractable leash.
