Child Advocates of Fort Bend Counting Down to Christmas Home Tour

Child Advocates of Fort Bend’s 26th annual Christmas Home Tour is less than 125 days away. Gearing up for the annual event are Jim McClellan, Lisa Moore and Aly Tomasello.

While the temperature is hovering near 100 degrees, and you are busy trying getting your kids ready to start school, the Fred & Mabel R. Parks Foundation and Child Advocates of Fort Bend staff, committee members, decorators and homeowners are gearing up for the 26th annual Christmas Home Tour. The Tour is less than 125 days away. Tour dates are Friday, December 8th and Saturday, December 9th. “Fred and Mabel R. Parks Foundation has had a long-standing relationship with this agency and with our Home Tour. We are so excited that they came forward to kick off the sponsor drive again this year as our Event Underwriter,” said Ruthanne Mefford, Child Advocates of Fort Bend Chief Executive Officer.

Proceeds from the Christmas Home Tour help Child Advocates of Fort Bend (CAFB) advocate for the needs of abused and neglected children in this community. Through its two programs, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), the agency touches the lives of more than 400 young victims each month.

A Fort Bend holiday tradition, the Tour offers guests the opportunity to view beautifully decorated homes in Fort Bend County while helping to raise much needed funds to support CAFB’s programs serving abused and neglected children. “In an effort to keep the tour fresh, we talked to our homeowners, florists and decorators about their experience and got feedback about what was working and what they would like to see in the future,” said Child Advocates of Fort Bend Events Marketing Specialist Lisa Moore. “We are taking that feedback and making adjustments to improve the experience for everyone involved – homeowners, decorators, staff and guests. This year’s tour is shaping up to be the most diverse one yet. We are finalizing our plans and will announce our tour neighborhoods in the coming month.”

If you love to decorate for the holidays, Child Advocates of Fort Bend would love to talk to you and your decorator about how you can help make a difference for children while doing something that you love to do.  For more information, contact Lisa Moore at lmoore@cafb.org.

Tour hours are 10 am until 4 pm on December 8th and 9th with a candlelight tour on December 8th from 6 pm until 9 pm. Sponsorships from $100 to $15,000 are available.
