Back to School Splash Bash
Beat the heat at Sugar Land Town Square. Bring your family and cool off in free waterslides, have fun with the hula hoop contest, Toddler Town, enjoy fun activities and live music all day with a DJ spinning summer fun beats. Severe-Weather Preparedness Tips and Hurricane Harvey Artistic Expression” Workshop
Get information and weather preparedness tips. Mansi Mehta, Project Coordinator with Texans Recovering Together, will present a “Hurricane Preparedness and Stress Management.”  At 1:30 to 4:30 pm, participate in the “Hurricane Harvey Artistic Expression” workshop. This family arts-and-craft activity is designed to provide an artistic outlet for survivors of Hurricane Harvey. The artistic pieces created may be submitted to become part of a special event marking the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Harvey. Musical Storytelling Performance of Harriet Tubman
Watch this fun, interactive performance of Git’ On Board! The Life of Harriet Tubman. Highly acclaimed musician and storyteller Hope Shiver engages students in discovering how Tubman led fellow freedom-seeking slaves to hiding places on their way to safety in the North. David Keepman provides musical accompaniment as students chant, clap, cheer and rejoice. Introduction to Book-Folding
Learn how to recycle old books into creative works of art. The library staff will demonstrate how to take an old book and make words and images by folding the pages. No cutting, gluing or special equipment is needed. The project is a fun way to re-use old books and give them a new purpose. Materials for the class will be supplied. Those attending the program will receive additional patterns to take with them and work on at their leisure. This is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Bingo Night
The Missouri City Parks and Recreation Department hosts bingo monthly for area residents who are 50+.  Visit with your peers, enjoy dinner and play rounds of bingo for great prizes.  Tickets can be purchased for $5 at the door.  Dinner will be from 5:30 – 6 pm.
