Thankfulness –
This month we celebrate the true American holiday: Thanksgiving. I’ve always found it rather profound that the most American holiday revolves around being thankful. As a nation, our very principals are based on freedom and opportunity, and being thankful for those gifts is a mindset that is ultimately American.
In this special Thanksgiving issue, our cover story is expressly about gratitude and being thankful. When Sevinch Serverovna Mamedova and her unborn 33-week-old baby were in imminent danger, the team at the Houston Methodist Childbirth Center at Sugar Land literally saved both of their lives. And this Thanksgiving, mom, baby, dad and big brother are all incredibly thankful.
Our Out & About in the Heart of the Bend features two Fort Bend couples who are thankful this season – thankful for their partners in life. Both Arlene and Len Rolsen and Bob and Carole Brown recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversaries. Congratulations to these two amazing couples! We are grateful for your love stories and for your friendship.

President John F. Kennedy said, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” I personally believe that’s what the word “thankfulness” embodies, not only warm, friendly feelings of gratitude but acting on these feelings in our daily lives.
