Roses, Sweets, Bubbles and Sparkles

Celebrating with my girls Camille and Cousin Susie in style. Happy Galentine’s Day ladies!

It’s Valentine’s porch sitters – the most romantic holiday of the year where everything is roses, sweets and bubbles.  I love all of that – add sparkles to my list – and I’m all in for a good Valentine’s Day.  Fortunately, Mr. Kaminski typically comes in clutch on the heartfelt holiday.  I’ll let y’all know next week how this year turned out, but based on past performances, I’m feeling pretty good about the odds ever being in my favor.  Or should I say in his favor, him wanting to stay married and all.

The past couple of years, Valentine’s Day has taken on an entirely different vibe as I’ve been fortunate to celebrate with fun, festive activities during the month of love with so many of my girls.  We call this phenomenon Galentine’s, and I’ve got to say, I’m here for it.

Traditionally Galentine’s Day is February 13th but since we made up the holiday anyway, I believe we can celebrate it whenever we want.  Typically, it’s an all-female event with the intention to lift up and support the women in our lives.  And yes, the description sounds like a bra.

Like so many things that we women do, this particular occasion was born out of rebellion according to Anna Hart of London’s Sunday Telegraph.  Anna said, “Just remember that Galentine’s Day was born out of rebel spirit, intended as a rebuff to the conventions of Valentine’s Day. It’s about doing exactly what you want to do and feeling thankful for having friends that let you do it.” Well said, sister!

This year I was invited to a Galentine’s Luncheon that took celebrating our girls’ holiday to an entirely new level. Bubbles – check.  Roses – check.  Sweets – check. Plus, spring fashions, shopping, an amazing lunch, shopping, dazzling diamonds, shopping and spending quality time with friends both old and new.  Did I mention shopping?  And yes, Cousin Susie was in tow with all the shopping and such.  I mean who else would I shop with – for nine hours?

The Neiman Marcus Galentine Luncheon was the perfect women’s appreciation event, and I’m all in, forever.  Hope our girl Camille got the memo, because going forward, I’m ruined for Galentine’s as this extravaganza was the pinnacle of our made up holiday, and I’m coming back next year – with or without an invitation.

I’m currently working on a March event to celebrate our maidens and matriarchs.  I’m thinking St. Patrick’s Day should include a St. Patti’s Day where everything is pink instead of green.  Even if the designation is not widely accepted, it will be a thing in the Kaminski household – a celebration of the Patti.  I can make that work.

Leave it to Neiman’s to celebrate us girls in style.  I’m a lifelong Neiman’s girl and forever fan.  Happy Galentine’s Day to all the amazing women in my life.  Celebrate big ladies!  We deserve it for putting up with the male species the other eleven months out of the year. See y’all next week – on the porch!
