Mornings are my nemesis. I’m convinced I should have created a noon to midnight gig to more effectively sail through this thing called life, but with babies, a beau and a business, that was never really an option. There is literally nothing I like about the early morning hours. I know, my people tell me all the time about starting the day with God’s glorious sunrise, birds chirping, roosters crowing. Ughhh! I don’t even utter actual words to Mr. Kaminski until I’m vertical for at least an hour, and the sun is high in the sky.
However, I do confess that I may have a change of heart about this entire morning situation based on my birthday blessings last week. First rattle out of the box on my big day, I received a precious text of wonderful wishes and instructions to head to my porch. Dazed and confused, I opened my door before 8 am, and there was the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers from Mr. Kaminski. Of course, he was still asleep, but he had the good sense to get one of my besties, floral phenom Lucas Chavez, on board to start my day off right.
I retrieved the gorgeous gift with a smile only to receive yet another text a few minutes later – with similar wishes and instruction. Sure enough, there was the iconic little blue bag right there on my porch! A stunning bag of bling from dear friend Adrienne Barker continued to make my morning sparkle, and it wasn’t even 9 am!
Feeling pretty tickled about the day thus far, I concluded my day with a fabulous dinner with Mr. Kaminski, baby boy, Emerson, Big Sis Debbie and Uncle Marv only to arrive at my house, and again, I was staring at early am hours. It was 1:30 in the morning, and I should have been exhausted after being up since the crack of dawn, but I was in my element now and raring to go. I’m typically really good to go until a solid 2:30 ish. Apparently, my porch people were back in spades! Once again, I found a plethora of birthday bling – more flowers, balloons, cake, bling and of course, wine from Lisa Ann and Mama.
I’m telling you I have now discovered that most amazing and fun things happen in the wee morning hours. I may have to become a morning person after all, but I’m telling you right now, there will be no coffee-drinking. I’m nothing if not a loyalist – Diet Coke all the way for my morning joe.
I think going forward I’m going to elevate my beloved fam, friends and clients from Porch Sitters to Porch People, because they all represented this year. I was showered with birthday blessings, well wishes and much love on my special day, and I am one grateful porch sittin’ girl. A huge hair-sized thank you to everyone who reached out with messages, texts, phone calls and love. You made my day amazing with your kindness and thoughtful gestures. And if you need me, I’ll be on my porch with a glass of wine in tow because really great things happen there. Stop by and join me – I’ll wait. See y’all next week – on the porch!
