New and Expectant Moms Invited to the Community Baby Shower at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital

Houston Methodist Childbirth Center at Sugar Land is excited to invite new and expectant mothers to a special community baby shower on Friday, August 2 from 10 am to 2 pm. This free event will take place in the Brazos Pavilion Conference Center on the Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital campus. The Maternal/Infant Health and Safety fair is designed to support and educate families in the community.

The community baby shower will feature a variety of informative and engaging activities, including demonstrations on how to safely use baby carriers, presentations on safe sleeping practices and important water safety tips. The Sugar Land Police Department will also be on hand to demonstrate car seat safety.

“Our goal is to provide resources for new and expectant moms, covering topics that will help them navigate the early days of parenthood with confidence,” said Cristina Martin, director of Houston Methodist Childbirth Center at Sugar Land. “We’ve done this for so many years and we’re always excited we can offer personalized support.”

Lactation consultants from the Childbirth Center will be on hand to discuss breastfeeding. Pediatricians will also be available to help answer any questions about infant care. More than 30 vendors are participating this year.

“We understand the journey of parenthood can be exciting but overwhelming,” Martin added. “Our team hosts this annual baby shower to ensure every mom feels supported, armed with all the resources they need for a healthy start.”

Attendees are welcome to stop by any time during the shower. Demonstrations will be provided throughout the event and light refreshments will be offered. Attendees can also participate in numerous raffles and door prize drawings. In addition, all new and expectant mothers will receive a handmade burp cloth and nursing pads made by our community and staff.
