Former architecture professor Sheba Akhtar will talk about the roles that topography, mythology and science have played in the history and development of Greece. She will discuss the country’s city-states, philosophy, drama, art, architecture, as well as Alexander the Great, the conquest of Asia Minor, Persia, Egypt during the Hellenistic period, Mycenae, the Trojan War and Homer. Memorial Day Ceremony
The City of Sugar Land will honor the U.S. Armed Forces for their selfless service by hosting its 9th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony. This event is free and open to the public. The program includes patriotic music, free educational and commemorative activities, on-site military exhibits and a flag ceremony. The official ceremony will include tributes from members of the community and words of remembrance from local veterans. A complimentary shuttle service will run from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm from the event’s public parking location at the University of Houston, Sugar Land campus at 14000 University Boulevard.
