Judge Chris Morales Elected to the Judicial Section of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors

Judge Chris Morales announced that he was elected to the Board of Directors for the Judicial Section of the State Bar of Texas, Place 8, to serve a three-year term. He was elected unanimously at last week’s Judicial Conference that had over 600 Texas
Judges in attendance.

The Judicial Section’s Mission Statement states that it “…works to improve the quality of justice in Texas, examines issues affecting the Judicial system, fosters public education about the Judicial system and matters of concern to the Judiciary, promotes dialogue and collaboration among Judges, and provides a forum to discuss matters of concerns to Judges.” Through its different committees, the Judicial Section addresses such issues as Judicial legislation, technology improvements and policy changes. Most importantly, the Judicial Section provides ethical opinions to Judges across Texas, upon written request. The Judicial Section ensures Texas Judges maintain the highest
ethical standards.

Judge Morales stated, “I truly appreciate the support and confidence of my fellow Judges who voted for me at last week’s Judicial Conference. I look forward to assisting with the Judicial Section’s priorities and supporting the County Court at Law Judges across the State.” Judge Morales is in his third term as Judge of Fort Bend County Court at Law No. 1. During his nine years on the bench, he has overseen and implemented substantial changes to his Court, such as improving docket efficiencies and implementing new technologies. He has previously served as the Administrative Judge for the Fort Bend County Courts at Law and currently serves on the Fort Bend County Juvenile Board, Fort Bend County Council of Judges, Fort Bend County Courts at Law Board, Magistrate Court Committee, 11th Judicial Region Budget Committee and the American Inn of Courts-Texas Probate Section. Additionally, Judge Morales is an adjunct
professor at the University of Houston Law Center.
