COVER STORY –
“Houston’s Largest Home Tour” is coming to the Houston area in April, filled with creative expressions of interior design and selfie-worthy pop-up art.
The home tour features 14 communities – all by Johnson Development – including seven communities in Fort Bend County. During the April tour, model homes and available homes for sale will be open daily throughout the month. Hours are 10 am to 6 pm Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 6 pm Sundays. Admission is free.
“Dozens of model homes will be open in Fort Bend County showcasing elevated home design that will inspire people to experiment with color, texture and accessories,” said Christen Johnson, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Johnson Development. “And beyond the homes, though, we will have a huge variety of pop-up art perfect for family photos or that Instagram-worthy snap. The tour is really about inspiration, both in home design and feel-good artful moments.”
April also brings an array of free, public events, from a crawfish boil to farmers markets to a pup-friendly festival. “Events are a big part of our annual home tour because Johnson communities are more than a collection of homes,” Johnson said. “Our communities deliver a signature lifestyle where neighbors gather at the clubhouse or waterpark; families celebrate a memorable Fourth of July watching a burst of fireworks; and schools, parks and hometown conveniences are just around the corner. The many events we host during April give the public a sampling of what residents of Johnson communities enjoy year-round.”
Johnson Development’s Fort Bend communities include Cross Creek Ranch, Harvest Green, Imperial, Jordan Ranch, Riverstone, Sienna Plantation and Veranda.
Located in Fulshear, the 3,200-acre Cross Creek Ranch community is known for its natural landscape. Flewellen Creek has been carefully restored and transformed into a 150-acre
nature preserve that is both a community amenity and wildlife habitat. The Polishing Pond is another wildlife habitat where residents can walk the boardwalk to spy a variety of birds and aquatic creatures. Fields of wildflowers and nature trails traverse the community. A nod to the development’s natural environment will be giant; artistic wildflowers installed for “Houston’s Largest Home Tour.”
Twenty-two model homes and dozens of available homes will be open during April, and dog owners will want to bring their pups to the Mutt Strutt 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday, April 13th for a day of Fido-friendly fun. Learn more about the community at www.crosscreektexas.com.
The Village Farm is central to life in Richmond’s Harvest Green, Houston’s first agri-hood. The 12-acre farm features fields of fresh produce, plots for residents to grow their own food, an orchard, vineyard, chickens and a foursome of adorable goats. Many of the resident events planned by the on-site Director of Fun are farm-inspired, including cooking classes and farm-to-table dinners. Ten life-sized “art cows” will be grazing community green space during the home tour.
Visitors can purchase fresh-picked produce during the Harvest Green Farmers Market held 8 am to noon each Saturday before touring the 12 model homes and dozens of available homes. Community details are available at www.harvestgreentexas.com.
The 720-acre Imperial community surrounds the historic Imperial Sugar Company refinery in Sugar Land. Residents enjoy elegant homes and proximity to Constellation Field – home of the Sugar Land Skeeters, Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center and the Sugar Land Heritage Foundation and Visitor Center. The March of Dimes “March for Babies” will be held 9 am Saturday, April 13th at Constellation Field.
During the home tour, a 10-foot tall, colorful Sugar Land mural near the model home park will be a colorful photo backdrop. Six models will be open for touring. Learn more at www.imperialsugarland.com.
Jordan Ranch in Fulshear is where residents can breathe deep, enjoy the countryside and leave the big city behind – all without being too far away from shopping, entertainment and employment. Located just one mile south of Interstate 10, Jordan Ranch delivers the American Dream with beautiful homes, engaging resident events and a host of amenities, including a resort-style pool and lazy river. And while the actual lazy river won’t be open for the tour, visitors can still picture themselves floating on the river in front of pop-up mirror art installed for the tour.
Twelve models and several available homes will be open during “Houston’s Largest Home Tour,” and an Easter Egg Hunt for adults and children will be held noon to 2 pm Saturday, April 13th. Learn more about Jordan Ranch at www.jordanranchtexas.com.
Luxurious homes – many with a Sugar Land address – and equally elegant amenities are the hallmarks of Riverstone, a 3,700-acre development in Fort Bend County minutes from U.S. 59 and the Fort Bend Parkway. Six well-appointed models will be open during “Houston’s Largest Home Tour,” and a giant topiary will inspire share-worthy Instagram photos.
Mounds of spicy crawfish will be served during Houston’s Coolest Crawfish Boil, one of Riverstone’s most popular events, returning noon to 4 pm Saturday, April 13th. The event is free and open to the public. Food lovers have another reason to return to Riverstone 5:30 to 9 pm Friday, April 19th during Riverstone Bite Nite, which will bring a caravan of food trucks to the community. Details about Riverstone are at www.riverstone.com.
More people purchased new homes in Missouri City’s Sienna Plantation last year than in any other community in Texas. Why? They were drawn by the gorgeous homes, over-the-top amenities and vibrant lifestyle – all of which will be showcased during “Houston’s Largest Home Tour.”
Twenty-three model homes will be open daily during the tour, as well as dozens of available homes. On April 13th, visitors can enjoy family favorite fun, games, food truck fare and more during Parks, Picnics and Pinwheels from noon to 3 pm. Pop-up art will provide ample selfie opportunities. Steeped with Southern charm, Veranda offers a fresh take on small-town living with home designs inspired by timeless architecture and boasting modern-day features. The Richmond community – located minutes from Interstate 69 — is celebrating three years of home sales and will host a Birthday Party noon to 2 pm Saturday, April 27th. During the free event, people can enjoy free ice cream and cake, pony rides, a video game truck and more. A giant rocking chair will provide a pose-worthy photo op.
There will be 13 model homes open during “Houston’s Largest Home Tour,” as well as a number of available homes. Discover more about the community at www.verandatexas.com.

People taking part in “Houston’s Largest Home Tour” will get a glimpse of what makes a master-planned community one of the nation’s best-selling.
The tour features five communities ranked among the nation’s top-selling – three of which are in Fort Bend County. Sienna Plantation outranks all other Texas communities listed, with more than 500 families purchasing new homes in Sienna last year. Buyers repeatedly say they are drawn by the community’s many on-site schools, the over-the-top amenities and the signature Sienna lifestyle.
Fulshear’s Cross Creek Ranch – popular with homebuyers seeking beautiful homes, an engaging lifestyle and environmentally friendly development – also ranks among the nation’s hottest-selling communities. Spurring home sales last year was a growing slate of amenities, including Greenthread Park, which opened another resort pool for residents’ use, as well as a pavilion, event lawn and additional trails.
Perennial favorite Riverstone once again was named one of the nation’s top-selling communities. Known for a graceful landscape of waterways and green space, elegant homes and country club amenities, Riverstone remains popular with homebuyers even as it nears the end of its development cycle.
