Fort Bend ISD Continues to Strongly Encourage Masks for Students and Staff

In the wake of the Texas Supreme Court ruling this weekend regarding Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order prohibiting mask mandates, Fort Bend ISD continues to strongly urge all students and staff to wear masks whether individuals are vaccinated or not, especially students under the age of 12 and staff working with students younger than 12.

FBISD’s Board of Trustees, Acting Superintendent Diana Sayavedra, and the District’s legal counsel will continue to monitor the latest developments while carefully watching internal COVID-19 data and reinforcing the COVID-19 mitigation protocols listed below.

Staff and students are urged to:

  • social distance at least 3 feet whenever possible
  • stay home when ill; students who are absent can receive academic supports via Schoology while at home, and their teachers can schedule times to check-in with them
  • self-report positive COVID-19 cases using the District’s online Wellness Screener
  • wash hands regularly and practice healthy lifestyle habits
Fort Bend ISD is conducting contact tracing and notifies parents and staff of positive cases in schools and workspaces.

FBISD continues to thoroughly clean and disinfect schools, facilities and buses regularly.

The District reminds those 12 and older who wish to receive a COVID-19 vaccine that they may do so at no-cost and may find a convenient vaccination location at vaccines.gov.
