During its Regular Business Meeting last night, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees approved the construction managers for the Mission Bend Elementary and Briargate Elementary school rebuild projects that voters approved as part of the 2023 Bond. Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, Inc. has been selected as the construction manager for Mission Bend Elementary, while Cadence McShane Construction Company LLC will oversee the construction of Briargate Elementary.
Interested firms submitted statements detailing their qualifications and cost projections and underwent a rigorous evaluation and scoring process that involved sealed proposals, committee rankings, and two sets of interviews. The top-ranked companies were chosen to lead the rebuilding projects. The estimated cost for each school rebuild is $47 million, with construction estimated to last approximately two years.
While the construction of the new campuses is underway, students and staff will remain consolidated at Blue Ridge Elementary during the reconstruction of Briargate Elementary, and at Mission Glen Elementary during the rebuild of Mission Bend Elementary.
The decision to rebuild Mission Bend Elementary and Briargate Elementary is part of the district’s ongoing consolidation efforts, which aim to reduce operational expenses while providing innovative educational facilities for students in these communities.
Both new campuses will be designed to accommodate up to 1,000 students, featuring flexible learning spaces, abundant natural light, one- and two-story sections, expanded libraries, state-of-the-art technology, specialized rooms for art, music, and special education, as well as secure, fenced-in play areas.
Recently built Lakeview Elementary will serve as a design model for Blue Ridge and the new Ferguson Elementary will be a design model for Mission Bend.
