City of Sugar Land Reopens Civic Arts Division Performing Arts Roster

The city of Sugar Land Civic Arts Division reopened its Performing Arts Roster.

The roster is open to all performing artists, including but not limited to singers, songwriters, bands of all genres, theater troupes, improvisation troupes, DJs and musicians. The city is seeking talented artists to join its pre-qualified artist roster.

The following details how the roster will be used:

  1. Project Invitations: As projects are identified and budgeted, staff will develop a shortlist of pre-qualified artists from the roster and invite them to indicate their interest and availability for the commission. If interested and available, artists may be invited to participate in an interview or other selection process with project stakeholders.
  2. Conceptual Proposals: Staff may identify one or more pre-qualified artists from the roster and invite them to submit a paid conceptual proposal for a project or commission that has been identified and budgeted.
  3. Resources and Opportunities: Staff may use the roster to connect artists and others to resources and opportunities.
  4. Availability to Others: The roster may be made available to public agencies, private businesses and other organizations seeking to commission artists for projects in the public realm.

In addition, all roster artists will be notified of open calls not using the roster that may be available through the city’s Civic Arts Program. Artists whose body of work is juried through another city opportunity using a selection panel to review work samples and qualifications may be invited to join the roster.

The roster timeline follows:

  • Submission Deadline: November 1
  • Decisions/Notifications: December 1
  • Active Period: Upon acceptance, artists will remain active from 2025 through 2027.

“We believe in the talent, skill and brilliance of our local performing artists and are building this roster as an invitation for performers to bring that brilliance to the city of Sugar Land, where we look forward to fostering and supporting their gifts,” said Civic Arts Manager Sha Davis.
