Thankful for Spring! –
Spring has sprung in Fort Bend and with it, a plethora of opportunities to enjoy the longer days and warmer weather. On our cover, Johnson Development shares with us their seven communities right here in Fort Bend participating in their “April Drools! Home Tour.” And let me just say, this is much more than simply a home tour! With 500 homes to tour throughout Houston and 20 plus events scheduled every weekend in April, Johnson Development is laying out the welcome mat in a big way.
This month we also welcome back a neighbor celebrating their 15th anniversary – the Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair. From the Grand Tasting to the Sip & Stroll, we will be there covering the people of Fort Bend. Be sure to say hello as you see us out and about – enjoying the best in wine and food!
Speaking of the best in food and wine, I was privileged to attend a very special event hosted by one of our Focus Favs – Chef Rey. Chef hosted a Sunday brunch to launch his new book Food Meets Athlete, and it was a star-studded affair. With remarks by former Houston Rocket Tracy McGrady and his author wife, CleRenda McGrady, Chef Rey celebrated his 15 years as a professional chef. I love to see our Fort Benders achieve major milestones, and this certainly was a big one for Chef Rey! Congratulations!
Inspirational author William A. Ward said, “God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say ‘thank you?’” I would like heed Ward’s advice and end this month’s message with a very personal “thank you.” For the past several months, we have featured a column entitled College Daze: Writing the Next Chapter by University of Texas student Kassidi M. Kaminski. The amount of positive feedback we have received from this column has been phenomenal and never more so than last month when the author wrote about a personal hardship that she endured and overcame at 17-years-old. As a family, we kept Kassidi’s journey somewhat private, but this March marked a four-year milestone in her journey to health, so it was especially poignant and meaningful to her that she share her story. “Thank you” Fort Bend Focus readers for embracing this column and for lifting Kassidi up in your comments and prayers over the past few months. We appreciate your feedback and support.
Stay focused!
