Keith Fickel has been selected as the principal of Almeta Crawford High School, formerly known as High School 12. Fickel is currently in his fifth year as the principal at Sugar Land Middle School. Fickel has more than 30 years of experience in education overall, with 25 of those years within the District.

“Keith is a dedicated leader in Fort Bend ISD whose many years of experience will be instrumental in planning for Crawford High School’s opening,” said Dr. Charles E. Dupre, Superintendent of Schools. “He knows how to build a strong culture and is well-prepared to assemble a great faculty and staff who will work with the students, parents and community to create a solid foundation for the long-term success of FBISD’s new high school.”

“It is a tremendous honor to be named as the first principal for Almeta Crawford High School,” said Fickel. “I look forward to collaborating with the community to develop a shared vision that ensures Crawford High School serves its stakeholders in a world-class way.”

Almeta Crawford High School is located on the southeast side of the District on FM 521 and is scheduled to open in fall of 2022. Almeta Crawford served for 49 years as an educator, 39 of which were with FBISD, and retired in 2018. She worked at Dulles High School more than 30 years and was named Teacher of the Year.
