Texana Center: Expanding Autism Services to Meet Needs

Texana Center has expanded it autism services significantly since its creation 15 years ago.  Now with over 10 unique programs, there is an option for almost everyone and any age to help them unlock their potential.

The Children’s Center for Autism, the largest of these specialized programs with locations in Rosenberg and Sugar Land, typically serves children ages 3-8, using applied behavior analysis treatment.  An individualized treatment plan is created by a Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst to teach the child how to interact and learn from their family, community and educational environments.

Texana’s Behavior Improvement Center, a clinic-based program, develops intervention strategies and then trains the family in these strategies to achieve appropriate behavior.  Social skills groups are available for teens to help them learn and practice the appropriate social behaviors within their community.

Opening in late summer, Texana’s Fulshear Campus will include a retail-training center, a third location of the Children’s Center for Autism and the new Texana Center for Advancement.  The retail-training center, Texana Bistro & Boutique, will serve coffee and sandwiches, as well as sell items from around the Houston area crafted by individuals with disabilities.

The Center for Advancement will provide training for teens and young adults with autism in a community college-like setting where they can learn social and employment skills, explore their strengths and prepare to lead productive and fulling lives.
