September 2021 – Exclamation Points!

Working on a calendar of upcoming galas got me thinking. What was the last in person gala I attended? I just knew I would find a beautiful photo of me in a gorgeous gown. Not the case. Apparently, it was January 2020 for the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, and I was a rock star: ‘Lil Queenie P.

Summing Up September

At our house, September marks the beginning of The University of Texas football season and back to school.  But this year, I only have one baby in school, and I embarked on my very last back to school shopping spree. It was a bittersweet time, and yes, Kolton ended up with unnecessary school supplies. It is a proven fact that every twenty-two-year-old senior in college does need a Scooby Doo lunch box and a banana shaped pencil bag.  That precious boy never said a word.  He knew it was a tough day.

September also traditionally marks the beginning of gala season in Fort Bend, and with the past year being so difficult on our non-profits, we decided to devote this issue to catching up with our community organizations.  Many have some wonderful plans for the coming months, and we have shared their events starting on page 10.  We will also maintain this calendar for the remainder of the year at FortBendFocus.com to keep our community informed with up-to-date information.

As we are all out and about this month, I encourage everyone to please be safe.  Houston Methodist is making it easier than ever to get your COVID-19 vaccine right here in Sugar Land with online appointments and walk-ins.

I hope to see you all out and about – whether virtually or in person – this fall.  Stay well Fort Bend friends!

Stay focused!
