May 2019 – Exclamation Points!

Momma’s babies: Kolton and Kassidi Kaminski.

Motherhood: The Perfect Storm –

I’ve often said that May is one of my favorite months of the year – tumultuous, stormy even, but a favorite nonetheless. The kids get out of school to begin a slower-paced summer, which means I get to spend more time with them, we celebrate Mother’s Day and yes, my baby boy was born in May.

This particular May is very exciting for our family. My daughter, Kassidi, graduates from The University of Texas, my niece graduates from the University of Arkansas and my goddaughter graduates from high school. And, of course, that baby boy I mentioned turns 20!  So, when you see me out and about this month, a hug and a tissue would be very much appreciated as all of my babies are growing up way too fast!

My gorgeous and amazing mother: Jo Ann Parish.

Appreciation is a theme that runs throughout this month’s issue, starting with our cover story. Keller Williams (KW) Southwest embodies a corporate culture of appreciating and supporting the community, and this year, they have a created a first-time event to support children in need as they head back to school.  KW Southwest’s “Paint the Town Red” gives us all the opportunity to provide essential school supplies to at risk children this summer at 100 open houses throughout Fort Bend.

Appreciating mom is important this month, and we have several gift ideas to help you show your love to mom. One of my favorite quotes about mothers, I confess, can be applied to both myself and my amazing mother.  Maya Angelou said, “To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow.”

Here’s to hurricanes when necessary and lots of rainbows this spring. Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Fort Bend moms!

Stay focused!
