Breast cancer is a difficult diagnosis to receive. That’s why I want to share with women how they can combat the harsh effects of treatment and regain their health through integrative therapies.

As we approach a time where integrative medicine and mind/body/spirit balance is becoming more prevalent, it’s pertinent to know which therapies are right for you.

Here are six simple therapies that can boost vitality and positivity before, during and after diagnoses.

1. Nutrition and Supplementation

First and foremost is a healthy diet, including plenty of lean, organic proteins. I also recommend medical-grade supplementation from an integrative physician to ensure optimal absorption levels. Supplements I recommend are DIM, Vitamin C, Iodine and N-Acetyl Cysteine. DIM is a synergistic combination of plant-based ingredients designed to support healthy hormone balance. Vitamin C promotes detoxification and provides antioxidant support, protecting you from harmful free radicals. Iodine can prevent health issues such as fibrocystic breast disease or even breast cancer. Lastly, because women who have breast cancer cannot take estrogen, it’s essential to support the endocrine system with supplements promoting hormonal balance, such as Menopause Support.

2. IV Nutritional Therapy

IV treatments provide patients with high doses of essential nutrients such as Vitamin C, B Vitamins, Magnesium, Calcium and many more at 100% absorption rates. Intravenous Vitamin C infusions are extremely popular due to their immune-boosting properties.

3. Detoxification

Prescription medications that help relieve symptoms and battle the cancer cells, though necessary, can deplete your nutritional status and leave you toxic. Great methods of detoxification are Far Infrared Sauna Therapy and the Aqua Detox procedure. I also recommend a safe and effective nutritional 14-day detoxification program, which naturally assists the body in removing harmful toxin from the bloodstream.

4. Yoga & Meditation

I encourage each of my patients to incorporate a routine that includes yoga or meditation to facilitate a relaxed state of mind. There is a very strong connection between the mind and body, and I often see the overall drastic health changes in those who first improve their state of mind.

5. Stress Reduction

Reducing stress is critical when your body is in a compromised state. Since stress can fuel chronic inflammation and deplete various nutrients in the body, I suggest that patients get their cortisol levels tested and introduce methods for stress reduction, such as walking, yoga, deep breathing or reading.

6. Vaginal Rejuvenation

One aspect of breast cancer that many don’t realize is the effects breast cancer and treatments can have on a woman’s intimate life. Vaginal dryness, burning, atrophy and urinary tract infections are all common symptoms experienced. Mona Lisa Touch is a quick, painless laser procedure used in treating these symptoms, along with Vulvo-Vaginal Atrophy.

I encourage you to educate yourself on the many different integrative treatments available thoroughly. Take the necessary time to ensure an effective treatment protocol is in place to support long-term health and happiness.
