Exclamation Points! – December 2014

“We elves try to stick to the four main food groups:  candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup.”  – Buddy

Tim and Patti Kaminski.

Tim and Patti Kaminski.

For years, when someone called the Kaminski’s during the holiday season, Kassidi and Kolton answered the phone with the following greeting: “Buddy the elf! What’s your favorite color?” Yes, Elf is our all-time favorite holiday movie.  We’ve seen it multiple times in multiple venues from Texas to Colorado during the holidays.  It’s become one of our holiday favorites.

Speaking of favorites, this issue is all about Focus Favs, our second annual readers’ choice awards. From food to shopping to entertainment, our readers shared with us their favorites in Fort Bend to the tune of over 58,000 votes! So, the next time you are looking for a great place to have dinner or enjoy happy hour, check out what our readers voted as their favs in Fort Bend.

Spending time with family and friends is another favorite of mine this time of year, and at Fort Bend Focus, we had the opportunity to spend Preview Night with one of our favorite organizations: The Fort Bend Junior Service League and their annual Sugar Plum Market. Once again, these ladies hosted a spectacular event that I’m sure raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for our community. Check out our coverage on page 56, and thank you ladies for another amazing year. The Sugar Plum Market is indeed one of our favorites!

200-wreathAnother favorite of ours is our annual GEMS event.  This year, we benefitted Texana Center with an amazing evening. We had dinner, showcased three amazing community leaders – Bob, Neil and Jim – played in the chips for charity casino, and had a blast! Check out pictures on page 42, and look for the details in next month’s issue about how much money was raised for the Texana Center.

It really is the most wonderful time of the year. This year, I have more than usual to be thankful for.  My family, friends, colleagues and team here at absolutely! focus media are truly amazing individuals, and I am blessed because of them all.  From all of us here to you and yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  We will see you in 2015!

Stay focused!
