Dear Fort Bend Friends,

Our halls are decked, our tree is trimmed – we are ready for the holidays at Fort Bend Focus!  I can’t quite believe it’s already the end of 2013. The year has flown by at Fort Bend Focus, so we thought what better way to end the year than with a readers’ choice poll highlighting Focus Favs. We asked our readers what their Fort Bend Favs were in food, shopping and entertainment, and the winners are featured starting on page 17. Take a look, and see if your favorite made the cut, and be sure to vote in our 2014 poll this fall!

This year was all about milestones at absolutely! focus media. We now have four community magazines, and we celebrated our 100th issue of Fort Bend Focus in February with an amazing event with our readers and advertisers at the Houston Museum of Natural Science in Sugar Land.  We celebrated the first birthday of our newest magazine, absolutely! Brazos, serving West Fort Bend. We launched the GEMS of Fort Bend and provided nearly $15,000 to a worthy community organization:  AccessHealth.  Yes, it’s been a great year at absolutely! focus media, and we owe it all to you – our readers and advertisers. Thank you for helping us continue to bring the people, places and happenings of Fort Bend to your doorstep each month. Our readers and advertisers are definitely our Focus Favs!

The holidays are a time for sharing with family and friends, and in this issue, we bring you a great idea to do just that: an old-fashioned cookie swap. A friend of mine hosts a holiday cookie swap each year, and while I honestly do not relish the idea of baking 10 dozen of anything, I always enjoy getting to sample – and take home – delicious cookies that others have made.  Check out page 66.  Maybe this is the year to start your own tradition with a cookie swap!

As our days get busier and the hustle and bustle of the season is upon us, I hope you will take a moment to remember the reason for the season.  “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” – Luke 2:11

From our family to yours, we wish you a blessed and Merry Christmas filled with faith, family and friends.

Stay focused,

Patti
