Spring has sprung in the Bend, and we are finding ourselves busier than ever! This issue alone features six Seen on the Scenes and several pages of Out and About photos of us covering the people, places and happenings in Fort Bend. Yes, we are busy in the Bend, and most importantly, we are blessed to live in our wonderful, diverse community that has so many opportunities to learn, thrive and grow.

Learning about different cultures is something that we really enjoy at Fort Bend Focus, and a few months ago, our cultural correspondent Zeenat Kassam Mitha, joined our team. This month, Zeenat attended The Asia Society Texas Center Tiger Ball celebrating Japan, along with many Fort Benders, and she shares with us the history of The Asia Society Texas Center on page 30.

In this issue, we also celebrate April’s dual designation as Autism Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month. Organizations providing education and support of autism like Texana and Hope for Three are hosting community events this month as is Child Advocates of Fort Bend – all to help shine the spotlight on these important issues. So, when you see your friends and neighbors sporting blue or puzzle ribbons during the month of April, remember these important issues that affect so many.

This month’s cover story is truly amazing. You’ll meet Air National Guard’s

Jonathan Wilson, a young man who literally got his life back with the unique approach to specialized care he received at the Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital Spine Center. Jonathan is not only back at work, he’s back with his three children – pain free – and able to be the husband and father he deserves to be. Read about his journey and the excellent medical professionals at the Spine Center on page 16.

Who is ready to Sip and Stroll? The 11th Annual Sugar Land Wine and Food Affair happens this month, and it looks to be the best one yet. Read all about it on page 86.

From our family to yours, we wish you a blessed Easter. We will see you out and about in the Bend!

Absolutely! yours,
