2021 Cadillac CT4

absolutely! AUTO REVIEW | By Steve Kursar –

The 2021 Cadillac CT4 is a luxury compact sedan that was introduced last year to appeal to younger car buyers new to the brand. This is not your grandfather’s big lumbering Caddy. This CT4 is modern, sleek and fun to drive.  The Cadillac brand that epitomized American automotive luxury to an older generation is reinventing itself to attract the newest generations.  The all-new CT4 is a great way to rediscover what American automotive luxury is all about.

There was a time, not so long ago for some of us, when Cadillac ruled atop of the luxury car market.  It was the car brand that heads of companies and celebrities drove. It symbolized that the owner was at the top of their field.  But, slowly luxury car buyers discovered European and Japanese brands, and Cadillac started to feel stodgy and out of touch. Now is the time to give Cadillac another drive; the lineup may surprise you.

The CT4 was introduced last model year with only one engine choice, a 237 hp, 2.0 liter Twin-Scroll Turbo engine with Active Fuel Management and automatic stop/start, which is still the base option.  Paired with an eight-speed transmission, the 2.0 liter engine delivers EPA estimated fuel economy ratings of 23 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

Now in its second model year, the CT4 gets a peppier powertrain, a 309 hp, 2.7 liter segment-first Dual-Volute Turbo engine that’s mated with a ten-speed transmission. And then there’s the performance version, the souped-up CT4-V, which gets the same engine but it’s retuned to push out 325 hp. The bigger 2.7 liter engine is a little thirstier than the 2.0 liter but not by much. It still gets you 20 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.

Along with all the latest safety technology available today, the CT4 also offers GM’s ground-breaking new Super Cruise feature. This is a hands-free, eyes on the road technology that is compatible only on certain roads, although most Texas highways are part of the system. The Super Cruise system will not only keep the CT4 in its lane at a safe distance from the vehicle in front, it can also change lanes safely. It’s remarkable technology that makes driving long distances less tiring.

If a compact luxury sedan is in your future, give the 2021 Cadillac CT4 a spin. You may be convinced that American luxury is back for good.
